STAND UP! Stand Up Paddle Board!

Stand Up Paddle Boarding has become one of the fastest growing sports these days. It's easy, it's fun, and no skill is required. The only thing you need to know is how to stand up! Take your board to the lake, quiet rivers, the ocean, and even into whitewater. Most people start out paddling on the lake and this may be the only thing they ever do on a SUP.

We've had many people come into the shop telling us about their day on the lake on the SUP. Many have said "it's a great workout". One woman said that she did some yoga poses on the board. Another person said that they just paddled out onto the lake and then laid down and took a nap.

Matt Dopp, co-owner of Kokopelli River Center and Tom Peil took the boards out to the Klamath River "Tree of Heaven" section. They were out to conquer the Class 2-2+ rapids. Both did a great job balancing on the boards in the smaller rapids but when it came to the bigger Class 2+ rapids, they were in for a swim! Both enjoyed every second of it and were sore the next day! Come check out the fastest growing sport in the paddling industry! Once you try it you'll be hooked!

LEARN TO PADDLE A RECREATIONAL KAYAK, SEA KAYAK, OR SIT-ON-TOP KAYAK

Because not everyone is into the thrill of whitewater, we can teach you how to paddle a sea kayak, recreational touring kayak, or a sit-on-top kayak. Kayak touring is the fastest growing form of kayaking today! Learn to paddle on pristine high mountain lakes, calm moving water, access hidden coves, and lazy rivers. We teach two sea kayaking courses: Recreational Kayaking Skills which is geared to the recreational boater who is interested in paddling on lakes for birdwatching, fishing, or just relaxing. Touring Kayak Skills is for those interested in learning open water rescue and basic navigation skills. No experience is required for either of these courses.

I am "rolling in my kayak" thanks to the great instruction by Matt Dopp and supervised river time provided through the Kokopelli sponsored Kayak Paddle Club." Matt and Leslie have been excellent teachers and have assisted me in selecting the appropriate gear to keep me comfortable on my river outings in all conditions.
