Swiftwater Rescue Class

June 22- 24

Written by Leslie

It's that time of year again when we host a Swiftwater Rescue weekend. Learn the skills you need to save a friend's life or save your own.

Swiftwater Rescue instructor Mike Mather will be here to teach this 2 1/2 day class filled with tons of hands on practice and in water training. Whether you're a rafter, whitewater kayaker, inflatable kayaker, or even an inner tuber this class is designed for you!

Mike is known throughout the U.S. as being the most qualified swiftwater rescue instructor in the nation. We are really lucky to have him come and teach the boaters of the Rogue Valley the skills necessary to be safe and play on the great rivers in our area.

Local kayakers Adam and Dena DeRose who took Mike's class in 2006 had to use their skills when they went to the whitewater kayak park in Reno to play last summer. Luckily they had the knowledge and quick reaction to save a young boy's life in the Truckee River.
