KOKOPELLI

Who is he?

Kokopelli is pronounced somewhat like this: "Cocoa-Pell-ee." Most people tend to know the "Kokopelli" figure as the humpbacked flute player. He is widely known in the Hopi Indian legends. The Hopi tribe thrived in the Southwestern United States and worshipped the fertility that the rivers brought and the mischief that life is full of. Kokopelli signifies this union of life and happiness in their history, dancing and frolicking throughout legend to the song of his own music.

We at Kokopelli River Center feel our purpose in life is just the same as the hump back flute player, Kokopelli. We like to call him the hump back paddler. We strive to awaken the joy and life force within everyone that joins us in one of our kayak lessons. We invite you to join us in a whitewater kayak lesson or a lesson on the lake and learn what how the spirit of Kokopelli brings us joy in the great outdoors.
