KAYAK TOURING CLASSES

Take in the serenity of sea kayaking on quiet lakes and in hidden coves. Learn to paddle your sit-on-top kayak efficiently to your favorite fishing hole. Or learn open water rescue techniques that you hope you may never have to use.

At Kokopelli River Center's kayak school, we feel that learning to kayak from a friend or significant other can be fun, but is not usually the best method for long-term success. Learning correct paddling techniques the first time around not only makes kayaking safer and easier, but also more enjoyable. Kokopelli River Center's kayak school promotes an accelerated learning curve and teaches kayak safety so you have more time for fun. Aspiring paddlers will learn more in Kokopelli's kayak instructional program than they could on their own in an entire summer. Our small kayak class size and individual attention will help your confidence grow the very first time out!

KAYAK TOURING COURSES

Recreational Kayaking Skills

Recreational Kayaking Basics class teaches you all the basics about flat water kayaking on lakes and slow moving rivers. You will learn proper stroke technique, proper entry and exit of the kayak, outfitting your kayak, safety techniques and more. No previous kayak experience required. Geared towards the recreational boater who isn't looking for the "thrill of whitewater." This is a 4-5 hour day spent at Emigrant Lake in Ashland.

Sea Kayak Skills

Sea Kayak Skills is an introduction to sea kayaking course that teaches sea kayaking basics and goes more in depth into open water rescue which involves swimming and introduces kayak navigation. No previous kayak experience required. This is a 4-5 hour day spent at Emigrant Lake in Ashland.

Private Kayak Lessons

Kokopelli River Center's private kayak lessons are the best value for you and your friends! Spend a day with your own private instructor and become the best you can be!

River trips and kayak lessons are not without inherent risks. Kokopelli River Center cannot assume responsibility for injury to rafting / kayaking / rental participants or loss of personal property. You will be required to read and sign a waiver and release prior to your class.
